Mumbai to celebrate the power of social media

MUMBAI: On Sunday, Twitter and Facebook will coax complete strangers to wake up early, meet at Shivaji Park and run with actor Milind Soman. This informal run won't be a marathon rehearsal but a way to flag off a first-of-its-kind event in the city to explore the social and economic impact of social media.

Social Media Week, a five-day-long global conference, will be held in Mumbai from September 23 simultaneously with nine world cities, including Barcelona, Berlin, London and Los Angeles. At venues such as NCPA and Trident, Mumbaikars can attend sessions ranging from a masterclass on mobile photography to discussions on going beyond slacktivism.
